15k with the boys

It's going to be hot the next few days, but it was chilly this morning. So we got it done!

Your delivery is here

I was noticed that my delivery arrived for something I ordered from Walmart. The road we live on shares its name with another road around 3.5 miles away from us.  Somehow Walmart got it screwed up in their system and they keep delivering to that other road and dropping my stuff off at a close - but not right - address. So as soon as I was notified the package was dropped off, I quickly checked the app to make sure it was my house they dropped it off at, as Walmart always shows a proof picture. It appears to be correct 😄😄😄😄

Happy birthday Booker!!

Today Booker turns 2! Many times I thought Booker would never grow out of the struggles we've had with him.  Now don't get me wrong - in terms of what some people struggle with, like aggression and those type of issues with their dogs - his separation anxiety and associated behaviors, well it's not that terrible.  But boy, he has tested us!   2 years old is a milestone for big dogs, and Booker is right on time.  Just in the last few months he has matured in such a great way.   We started today with cuddles and some eggs from our chickens.  He went for a walk this afternoon with Marc and then when I got home we played some football.  And of course he got a stuffed treat to chew on. So happy birthday to my boy, and here's to many more!

Sisko's still got it!

The last couple weeks have been tough emotionally.  I think if it weren't for the dogs I'd have completely lost it.   They have been so good.  We've spent a lot of time just hanging out outside.  This weekend I had to mow the lawn.  This sounds ridiculous, but I've never used the lawn mower!  But since Marc can't right now, I had to learn.  Both dogs followed me around the yard while I was mowing. Apparently they felt they had to supervise my work!! We have been having nightly play sessions and I've been getting some runs in with Booker. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Booker and Sisko (@boxeradventuresny) The last couple of times I took Sisko on a run, he hasn't really acted like he was enjoying it.  It wasn't overly warm when we went, so I didn't think that was the issue.  He is almost 9, so I thought it might be time to retire running for him.   But this morning, I wanted to take them ...

He's home

I left first thing this morning to go pick up Marc at the hospital and bring him home. I knew the dogs were going to be both very excited when they saw him and I was extremely nervous about them jumping up on him and injuring him.  So before he came into the house I went in and put their collars on and leashed them both.  As expected they were both incredibly excited just to see him let alone when they could smell him and know that he was back and that he smelled different.  It took some time with me holding them firmly with the leashes to make sure that they didn't jump - especially Booker! Obviously he's the young boy who's so full of it!  But once they were in a common frame of mind they were able to sniff him and ask him to pet them without being overly rambunctious.  Tonight they've just been going over multiple times to check on him smell him and I think just being happy that he's back home. They have been gentle and subdued either because it's still...

A very very stressful time

Last Saturday Marc had a medical event.  Over the past week, he has been hospitalized out of the area.  So I have been gone a lot of the time and our schedules are all out of whack. While obviously my main concern has been Marc, but I also have been worrying about the dogs.  Fortunately I've had people to help by going over and let them out just to run and go to the bathroom. Since Marc works out of our house they are spoiled and are used to having someone home most of the time. The first day that I was gone Booker found a sponge that we use when washing the vehicles that we had out planning to be put back in the garage and destroyed it.  I was mostly worried that he had swallowed a piece but fortunately he didnt.  Other than that, the only casualty has been some paperwork that I left on my desk.  I've actually been pretty proud of them - they've been handling this like champs.  They definitely know something's wrong and they've been looking all ...
