Meet Sisko

This is Sisko, our incredibly handsome sealed brindle.  He came home to us 2 days before Christmas in 2016.

He has been a goofy sweetheart from the start.  He is athletic and fun-loving and doesn't have a mean bone in his body.  Before he came home, I had bought a super long training leash which helps teach recall in a safe way.  Guess what - I never opened it!  Since he was a young puppy Sisko has always stayed right by our side!  He had and continues to have perfect recall.  He HATES to get in trouble and is highly motivated to do whatever is asked of him.
I mentioned how athletic he is - he is part European and is strong and muscular.  He loves to run but prefers off leash trail running where he can go at his own pace, chase chipmunks, and pause to smell interesting smells.  He does go with me on road runs and I always feel safer with him at my side.  He is also a strong swimmer, although keeping his short nose out of the water can prove challenging!

His dark fur and large frame may make him look intimidating to some but he is truly a lover, not a fighter.  He adores people and other animals.  Nothing confuses him more than when a reactive dog barks or lunges at him.  He thinks everyone should be friends!

Look at him when he met Santa!

Even though he has a high prey drive it is to chase, not to catch.  One of his favorite things to do is run at the chickens and they scatter yelling their chicken noises - he thinks he's funny.  Even though he has never hurt any other animal I was a bit nervous when I brought home 2 tiny kittens.  Not only was he fascinated by them, both were instantly drawn to him.

He is a true family dog and is deeply bonded to both Marc and I.  He was also deeply bonded with Archer and has truly been lost without him.  Anyone who thinks dogs don't feel emotions is nuts.  The way he looked lying with his head on his paws looking at Archer's body was heart wrenching.  He loved him.  Love is the right word.

We will be bringing home the new puppy on Saturday and I hope that he will love him equally.

Send good thoughts!  And continue to follow his adventures with our new boy!
